In Memoriam

Vern served as Troop #100 Boy Scouts of American assistant leader for six years and Indian Guide leader for four years. He retired from Pfizer Inc. on December 31, 1993, after 30 years. He was selected to the Honor Council at Pfizer as "Salesman of The Year" many times over the years. During that period of time, he served on the Board of Directors for Pacific Egg and Poultry that included 11 western states and two Canadian Providences, representing the Allied Industry. In addition to his work with Pfizer, Vern also served on various Boards and Committee's for organizations such as California Pork Producers Association, Pork Producers Allied Industry and the California Cattlemen's Association. Another of Vern's great passions was his work with Kiwanis. He was a 21 year member of the Kiwanis International Organization and was honored to serve as President of East Fresno Kiwanis Club in 2005 to 2006, Lt. Governor for District 5, 2008 to 2009, a Charter Member of the Kiwanis Club of Caruthers, CA, Membership Chairman, and New Club Builder for Division 5. Vern also was a member of the Board of Directors for Sheriff's Foundation for Public Safety.

Timothy was born on June 13, 1948 to Sarah Margaret McDonald at the Mother and Baby’s Home in the Castle pollard, Delvin, Ireland and adopted from a Catholic orphanage in Dublin, Ireland by Russell and Mary Fortier of California two years later. Tim was one of four Irish toddlers adopted by the Fortiers that year and brought to the USA in the first of many adoptions by Americans seeking children from Ireland, which was struggling economically in the post-WWII years.
Tim was employed by Commercial Transfer, Inc., a trucking company owned and operated by family. He eventually purchased the company and operated it. Among his many accomplishments was to be selected by his peers in the California Trucking Association to serve as President in 1996, representing the thousands of Californians who make their livelihood in the transportation industry.
Tim was also active in local civic organizations, rising to positions of leadership in the East Fresno Kiwanis. He recognized how fortunate he was to have been afforded the opportunities being raised in America provided him and was dedicated to assisting other children and young people reach their potential

Dale was born on July 30, 1929, in Bloomington, Illinois, Dale resided in Fresno, California with his devoted wife of 32 years, Maria Hosler. Dale is lovingly remembered by his children: Paul Hosler, Heidi Hosler, Tom Hosler, David Hosler, Marisela Woods, and Rick DeLeon; 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and one cherished great-great-granddaughter. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, many extended family members, and dear friends who were touched by his kindness, wisdom, and strength. Dale attended LeRoy High School and later pursued studies in Forestry at UC Berkeley. A proud United States Army veteran, he served his country honorably during the Korean War as a 1692 AAA AW Chief.

Wendell was born to Gerrit and Cora Streelman Noteboom on October 31, 1944, at home on a farm near Corsica, South Dakota. 
 Wendell was a speech therapist by training and spent a professional lifetime helping disabled 
 people first as a speech pathologist, then as a vocational counsellor, and then as a disability 
 examiner for the Social Security Administration. He coached his kids' softball teams, was once the 
 School Board President in Urbandale, Iowa, performed in community theater, collected 
 woodworking tools and sometimes used them, and enjoyed sailing. 
After retiring in 2011, Wendell and wife Judy moved to Fresno, California. As if to prove himself wrong about not advancing peace and justice, he volunteered at the library, for Hospice, for the Circle of Support and Accountability, which supports offenders on parole, and helped to establish a local group of Compassionate Friends, a support organization for parents who are grieving the loss of a child. 

In high school he pursued swimming and scouting, and became an Eagle Scout. served in the Merchant Marines during WWII and in the Army during the Korean War. He later worked as a scout executive in Solano County and then Fresno County, where he came in 1965 and settled with his family. Scouting was a passion throughout his life, serving as scoutmaster and camp director, as well as scout executive. He was awarded the Silver Beaver, the highest award given by the Boy Scouts of America. For several years in the 1980s, he fought to save Scout Island for the use of local Boy Scouts.
He was an active member of the Men's Tuesday Morning Bible Study and a member of Toastmasters and the Kiwanis Club.
